Cause

The Comox Valley United Men’s Team presents the Tommy Butcher Memorial Fundraiser. Tom Butcher was a member of the Comox Valley United Men’s Team who lost his life to a tragic Kayak Accident in December of 2016. Since then every year, the men’s team hosts an indoor tournament in memory and honour of Tom Butcher, with the proceeds going to the Comox Valley Search & Rescue. To date the tournament has raised a total of $20,344 for the CVSAR

Comox Valley Search & Rescue is the only professionally staffed, volunteer SAR team in British Columbia not housed on public land. As a result Comox Valley Search and Rescue is struggling financially. Over 100% of our Provincial operating grant of ($100,000.00) is swallowed up by exorbitant building lease costs and utilities leaving the team to search for grants and to engage in fund-raising, stealing valuable time and energy away for critical training.

Your support will help us to raise funds for a new permanent hall for the team.
